About me

My chosen career is motherhood – wife and mother, I am now also ‘Granny B’. Professionally I am a trained and registered nursing sister and midwife with the South African Nursing Council. My interests are writing, story-telling and music. I love hand-crafts, baking and cooking. Friends and family know me for my macaroni-cheese, scones, pancakes, chicken-curry and gravy.
I trained at the Hillbrow Johannesburg General Hospital, the Children’s Transvaal Memorial Hospital and the Queen Victoria Maternity Hospital. I have worked in paediatric Intensive Care, the Edenvale Municipal Health and Baby Clinic, the Park Lane hospital and Bedford Gardens hospital. For 15 years I ran ante-natal classes from our local Community Centre. A doctor and I started a NGO called Just-1-Teenager – a sexuality-education programme for teenagers. I have been writing for prominent pregnancy, baby, health and nursing magazines for the past 20 years.
